WHO reports record daily increase of COVID-19 infections

THE partner of a man who tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday has also contracted the virus.

There are now three active cases of coronavirus in the NT.

A Secure NT spokeswoman said the woman, who returned to the NT with her family from Melbourne on Friday, has been in the case of Royal Darwin Hospital in isolation since arriving.

The family, with permission from the NT Department of Health, travelled to Victoria so their child could receive essential medical care. They were given clearance to return to the NT by authorities, under the proviso the entire group would go into quarantine upon arrival.

The man was asymptomatic but got himself tested in Victoria. He got his positive result mid-flight.

The spokeswoman said contact tracing has been completed, with all cases related to international or interstate travel.
