CHRISTMAS has come early in Darwin this year with a sea of red-suited Santas seen racing across Mindil Beach today.
Families, friends and co-workers ran, walked, skipped and hopped the 2km and 4km courses at this morning’s Darwin Santa Fun Run – the first to be held in July.
The $3000 raised at the event will go towards helping Variety children’s charity and provide grants to Territory kids who are sick, disadvantaged and/or have special needs.
Variety NT general manager Katrina Fong Lim said about 100 runners turned out for their special COVID-19 recovery event.
“This is the first time we’ve held one in July but don’t worry if you missed out, our regular Santa Fun Run will be back in November,” she said.
“I’m always happy to see so many familiar faces coming back year after year to help this cause.”
