A Palmerston landlord is suing embattled former real estate agent Suzi Milgate for more than $17,000 in rent and bond payments he claims “she is holding onto” unlawfully.

Abdul Ansari has taken Ms Milgate, who disputes the claims, to the NT Civil and Administrative Tribunal, seeking “recovery of outstanding rent and return of the bond money” for a property in Bellamack.

In documents filed with NTCAT and seen by the NT News, Mr Ansari claims the property was managed by Ms Milgate “until I discovered that her licence had been revoked” on January 31.

“She was (sic) failed to informed (sic) and she is continue (sic) receiving rents,” the application reads.

“I was later informed by Suzi Milgate on 12 March 2024 that she had closed her business. As a result, I transferred the property management to (redacted) on March 11, 2024.

“Unfortunately, essential documents, security bond, and rent payments are currently inaccessible.

“Despite multiple attempts to contact Suzi Milgate via phone calls, text messages, and emails, I am not able to recover rent and bond thus far.”

Mr Ansari claims the tenant confirmed payment to Ms Milgate up until March 22 and that she “made and advance rent payment to Suzi Milgate Real Estate” last year amounting to $8360.

“Surprisingly, this amount was not reflected in the November and January statements sent by Suzi Milgate Real Estate,” the application reads.

“She is holding onto that money without notifying or transferring it to me.”

Mr Ansari claims the total rent owed to him by Ms Milgate is $13,290 plus bond of $3960.

“On this basis, the applicant seeks an order for recovery of the outstanding rent and return of the bond with respect to the premises,” the application reads.

Ms Milgate has filed a response as follows: “We wish to make a response, and would like to exercise mediation in this matter thank you Suzi.

“We have transferred the funds we believe are correct to Abdul Ansari.”

Ms Milgate is currently fighting legal battles on multiple fronts, with a separate application to overturn the revocation of her agent’s licence also before NTCAT.

She also returned to the Darwin Local Court on Monday where she is fighting a charge of assaulting former Chief Minister Natasha Fyles with a cream crepe.

It comes after she accumulated more than $18,000 in fines from the Agents Licencing Board following multiple complaints, including a finding she threatened to evict a young woman and call the police upon discovering she had an OnlyFans account.
