Rising tide threatened woman injured after falling into water off rock ledge near Mandorah jetty

A woman, who fell off a rock ledge near the Mandorah jetty, had to be stabilised in the water by emergency services and civilians as the tide rose higher around her, before being flown by CareFlight to RDH.

A WOMAN, who fell and injured herself near the Mandorah jetty in a rising tide, had to be stabilised before being flown by CareFlight to Royal Darwin Hospital.

The woman, aged in her 50s, fell between 2 to 3m off a rock ledge and into shallow water, injuring her legs and back just before 7pm overnight.

NT Police Northern Watch Commander Senior Sergeant Kevin Paice said those that came to her aid were not able to pull her from the water due to her injuries.

“Between NT police, NT Emergency Services and civilians, they were able to keep her head above water and stabilise her,” Sen Sgt Paice said.

He said police called CareFlight who were able to remove her from the water and take her to RDH.

It is understood she did not suffer life threatening injuries.
