QUESTIONS have again been raised about prominent CLP candidate Toby George’s portrayal of his education and work credentials after his confidential party preselection paperwork was leaked.
Port Darwin CLP candidate Mr George, a project management consultant by trade who has been referred to as an “educated candidate” in political advertising, defended his credentials last week after questions were raised about why he spruiked himself as a former marine conservation biologist when he had not completed a degree in the subject.

The NT News has since seen Mr George’s CLP preselection forms, which show he listed himself as a “Certified Practicing Project Manager” with the Australian Institute of Project Managers.
But a search of the AIPM’s public database shows Mr George is not listed as a certified practising project manager in any jurisdiction in Australia.
The CLP was asked to confirm whether the certification had lapsed and, if so, when it had lapsed, and when Mr George completed the course.
The party was unable to respond by deadline.
The leaked preselection documents also show Mr George — who listed honesty and integrity as his first two attributes — did not specify he had been a “volunteer” marine biologist during his five-month stint with the Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation.
The CLP was asked to confirm whether it was aware Mr George had been a volunteer and not a paid marine biologist.
However, the party was unable to respond by deadline.

In a previous response, the party had said Mr George “stands by his qualifications, which are readily available”.
As of Monday evening, 34.9 per cent of enrolled voters in Port Darwin had already cast their vote.
Mr George was also dealt a blow last week when Territory Alliance made an eleventh-hour change to its preferences, putting Labor’s Paul Kirby ahead of the CLP.
