UPDATE: A MAN has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted two people with an edged weapon in Darwin CBD.
About 3pm police received a report two people had been assaulted in Briggs Street, Darwin City before the offender ran away.
The victims suffered minor injuries and were taken to Royal Darwin Hospital.
An NT Police spokeswoman said officers searched around Darwin before finding the man along Tiger Brennan Drive.
He was arrested and taken to the Palmerston Watch House, where he is expected to be charged tonight.
Detective A/Superintendent Mark Malogorski said there was no threat to public safety.
“Thanks to the good work of general duties, CCTV operators and other members, police were able to effect a quick arrest,” he said.
EARLIER: Two people have been taken to Royal Darwin Hospital following an incident in Darwin CBD.
Emergency services responded to an incident on Briggs Street n Darwin City, and asked the public to avoid the area.
A St John NT spokeswoman said paramedics attended and took two patients to RDH in a stable condition.
Police are still investigating.
