Police arrest and charge man from East Arnhem region community with alleged indecent dealing of a child

UPDATE: POLICE have charged a man in relation to the alleged indecent assault of a child in a remote NT community.
On Monday the 31-year-old was arrested and charged in an East Arnhem community by the Sex Crimes Division for the alleged indecent assault of a child under 10-years-old known to him.
About 1.15pm on October 24 police received a report a child under 16 had been allegedly sexually assaulted at a residential property in the region.
He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on November 4.
“In the interests of protecting the privacy of the victim and family, no further details will be provided,’ NT Police said.
EARLIER: NT POLICE are investigating an alleged sexual assault of a child in East Arnhem Land.
About 1.15pm on Sunday police received a report a child under 16 had been allegedly sexually assaulted at a residential property in the region.
“Investigations into the incident are ongoing and in the interest of protecting the victim’s privacy, no further information will be provided,” a police statement read.
It comes days after a child, also under 16, was allegedly assaulted at a residential property in Alice Springs in a separate incident.
