UPDATED: A WOMAN, believed to be in her 30s, has been killed in Jingili and police investigators have gone door to door asking residents in the area of a cordoned-off scene for statements.
The NT News understands NT Police have apprehended an alleged offender.
An area of the Jingili Water Gardens has been taped off amid a large police presence in the area.
A large chunk of the park has been cordoned off near the children’s playground on the Trower Rd end of Freshwater Dr.
A body with a white sheet over it could be seen laying in the middle of the road about 150m from where the crime scene tape starts.
Freshwater Rd remains blocked off.
Detectives are speaking with people at the park.
Detectives have asked all residents on Sanders St to remain indoors, saying they believed that part of the incident occurred on a median strip on the street.
Investigators were going door to door to take statements from any occupants.
EARLIER: TERRITORY police are currently responding to an incident in Jingili and have asked for the public to “keep movement to a minimum”.
A post on the NT Police social media page alerted the public to an incident in Freshwater Rd, Jingili.
“Police are responding to an incident on Freshwater Road, Jingili,” the statement said.
“The public is asked to keep movement to a minimum in Jingili, Moil and along Rapid Creek. Please follow any direction given by authorities.”
