An embattled Darwin councillor has been rushed to hospital after being served a restraining order application from her former colleague.

Paramedics took Amye Un to Royal Darwin Hospital on Monday after the Lyons Ward councillor suffered a medical incident she attributed to the stress of an ongoing Darwin city council saga.

She was released later that day after medical staff determined she suffered a panic attack.

Ms Un said the episode started after she read ex-colleague Paul Arnold’s application for a personal violence restraining order against her, which she received on Friday.

“I don’t want to read because for me it’s fully crap … but yesterday I pick up and read and my emotional (state became) higher and higher and higher,” she said on Tuesday.

“Ten minutes (longer) I’d be gone.”

The controversy stems back to a series of personal social media posts Ms Un made in which she opined it was unfair Mr Arnold won a $100,000 NT government grant, which he received after being served a domestic violence order.

Mr Arnold resigned from his councillor role in May, citing mental health issues, about a month after his ex-partner filed a domestic violence order against him.

A day after he fronted court on domestic violence charges – which included three counts of breaking a domestic violence order and stalking, as well as multiple counts of property damage, aggravated assaults and deprivation of liberty – this publication revealed he had received the grant to upgrade his business Paul Arnold Gallery, which he has since renamed to Wild Country Gallery.

Council staff then banned Ms Un from entering council buildings or even attending council meetings in-person over the series of posts it described as “aggressive and threatening”.

In his application for a restraining order against Ms Un, seen by this publication, Mr Arnold described some of Ms Un’s posts as a “concerted and targeted campaign” against him.

“This has had a significant impact on my mental health and has caused reputational damage to myself and my business,” it read.

“I seek for Amye Un to be instructed not to speak my name, not to speak about me, not to approach me and not to write about me on any platform.”

Mr Arnold said in a statement to this publication he was seeking advice on posts made by Ms Un and others.

“I will not stand by and be bullied and harassed on social media and through the media, but I have used a proper process to have that cease,” he said.

The application also refers to a confrontation between the pair at a by-election polling centre earlier this month, in which Mr Arnold said he told Ms Un to “f**k off” after she “threatened me with action from her lawyers”.

Ms Un maintains she only said hello to him in a friendly manner and had not seen him since the event.

“I think this is pathetic, this is (him trying) to intimidate me,” she said.

“I reject, because I do nothing wrong.”

The application will be heard in the Darwin Local Court next Tuesday.

Mr Arnold has rejected the allegations and a five-day hearing has been scheduled in May next year, in which a number of witnesses are expected to give evidence.
