THE Hog’s Breath Cafe at Palmerston will officially close its doors forever this Sunday.
The owners of the Palmerston city business announced the closure in a post on Facebook today.
“We’re sorry to let you know that Hog’s Palmerston is now closed, but Hog’s Casuarina is still open for you to enjoy a great Hog’s meal,” the post read.
Owner Cormack McCarthy said Palmerston’s Hogs Breath Cafe last day of trading would be this Sunday.
“After 10 years, our franchise agreement has expired and the franchisor and myself have agreed to conclude the arrangement,” he said.
“Like with everything business related these days the coronavirus has played a factor but we’ll still be operating at Casuarina.”
In the comments on Facebook, locals were furious.
“Was there on Monday! Looked busy enough!,” Charlene Harry wrote. “A little warning would have been nice!”
Others questioned why the venue had been forced to close.
“Wonder how much covid has cost them esp with the lack of quest bookings in apartments above,” Geoffrey Watson wrote.
“Is quest now looking for a commercial kitchen to take over I wonder”
