A bigger, better Christmas Wonderland is set to bring holiday cheer to Palmerston as the popular event returns for another year.

With three new attractions at this year’s wonderland, City of Palmerston Mayor Athina Pascoe-Bell said it was set to be another ‘great year’ for Palmerston and surrounding communities.

“Palmerston Christmas Wonderland is guaranteed to sleigh,” Ms Pascoe-Bell said.

“This year there will be an arctic igloo, a new carousel, and Starburst Street, which all add different elements to the wonderland, but also the favourites will be back too.

“The polar express train can take you for a ride around Goyder Square which is very popular, Santa’s Grotto is here if you want some photos taken with Santa, and there will be lots of entertainment and food trucks to grab a bite to eat.”

The Christmas Wonderland will kickstart on Sunday, December 16 with the return of the low-sensory night, which has already been booked out, but will officially open on Monday, December 17 with the lighting of the Christmas tree by the mayor.

Ms Pascoe-Bell encouraged everyone to visit the wonderland while it was on.

“My favourite is to grab a frozen yoghurt as I make myself into [the Christmas Wonderland] … and that’s the thing, there’s plenty of opportunity to come and have a look, it’s just family-friendly fun,” she said.

“It’s not just about checking out all of the Christmas lights, you can actually just come and spend some quality time with the family, looking at the Christmas displays, making some memories, taking photos, visiting Santa.

“You can go to the library as well and do some Christmas craft, there is plenty on for everyone.”

Palmerston Christmas Wonderland will run from December 17 to December 23, however, there is now a waiting list for the low-sensory night on December 16.

Gates will open at 5.30pm and close at 9.30pm at Goyder Square and the Palmerston Library – entry is free.
