OVERCROWDING at Royal Darwin Hospital over recent weeks has raised concerns with health staff that patients are not able to socially distance properly.
The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation says there have been numerous reports of two patients being placed in one cubicle at Royal Darwin Hospital in recent weeks.

NT acting branch secretary Cath Hatcher said she was worried about how overcrowding would hinder social distancing.
“Things have been getting a lot busier in recent weeks, with coronavirus patients recovering and elective surgeries resuming,” she said.
“There’s not enough beds for all the patients coming through the emergency ward so many get put together in the same cubicles.
“It’s been going on for a long time and it needs to stop.”

The NT Government has reportedly told the ABC it will open more beds at the Palmerston Regional Hospital to ease overcrowding at Royal Darwin Hospital.
