THE NT Government has announced a $1.25 million boost to Tourism Central Australia to lure travellers to the region.
Tourism and Hospitality Minister Natasha Fyles announced the package on Monday morning, saying it would provide relief for struggling local businesses.
“We know COVID-19 has devastated tourism and hospitality industry around Australia, but regional areas have been particularly hard hit,” Ms Fyles said.
She said the package would hopefully boost the uptake of the tourism voucher scheme in Central Australia.
“We haven’t seen the uptake we had hoped for, so this package today – $1.25 million – goes to Tourism Central Australia.”
Tourism Central Australia chairman Patrick Bedford welcomed the announcement.
“Our membership really needs this at this time,” Mr Bedford said.

“This money will go hand-in-hand with the federal money, which will entice (more travellers) at a time when we need to rebuild the sector and get as many people here to Central Australia,” he said.
