A horror crash in the Darwin rural area claimed the life of a 58-year-old woman on Saturday, in the second fatal incident on Territory roads in less than a week.

A horror crash in the Darwin rural area claimed the life of a 58-year-old woman on Saturday, in the second fatal incident on Territory roads in less than a week.
The Arnhem Highway was closed for most of the afternoon following the three-vehicle pile-up near the intersection with Freds Pass Rd, at Humpty Doo, about 1.30pm.
Detectives from the Major Crash Unit spent several hours at the scene in an effort to piece together the chain of events that led to the fatal smash, while officers also began the process of preparing a report for the coroner.

The cars involved sustained significant damage with broken glass and debris strewn across the highway.
It is the second horror crash on Territory roads in less than a week, coming after a high-speed crash that claimed the life of a 36-year-old woman at Alawa last Sunday.
The 21-year-old driver of that car was charged with dangerous driving causing death and recklessly endangering life after allegedly slamming into the side of another car on Trower Rd.
The man in the other car, Uber driver Kumar Dangi, was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital with nine broken ribs.
Before that, a 54-year-old man was killed in a crash in a remote community in the Daly River region on May 8.
In April, two more Territorians lost their lives on roads in the Red Centre.
The Territory’s road toll now sits at 11, three more than at the same time last year.
