FOUR people are lucky to be alive after their car rolled several times down an embankment north of remote town Elliott.
Southern Watch Commander Shaun Furniss said about 3pm on Friday police received reports of a rollover 40km north of Elliott.

A gold-coloured Toyota 4WD lost control and rolled a number of times down a 5m embankment. All four occupants were trapped in the wreckage.
“Passers by helped to cut sort of certain things off the car to get to a couple of them out but fire and rescue from Tennant Creek attended with a cutting gear and cut the last person out of the car,” he said.

The occupants were taken to a nearby airstrip where two planes flown them to Alice Springs Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The persons involved are reported to be locals to the area where crash occurred. Alcohol is being considered as a possible factor with Elliot police investigating.
