The Territory’s lockout has officially ended and the vaccine pass system has taken over.
But what are the rules and where will we see the system used?
WHAT IS A VACCINE PASS?
Basically everyone who has got a double-dose of their vaccine of choice will have to prove it, whether that be with a downloaded or hard copy of the vaccine certificate or by adding it to the Territory check-in app.
The people that are exempt from it are people with a Commonwealth-issued certificate proving a contradiction to all approved Covid-19 vaccines and children under 16.
WHERE WILL I NEED TO SHOW MY VACCINE PASS?
The following businesses will be required to ask for your vaccine pass on entry:
– Pubs/Bars/Licenced Clubs and Cafes
– Dining in Restaurants (not for take away)
– Cinemas
– Casinos
– Ticketed events for over 500 people in urban centres and over 100 in non-urban centres
Deputy Chief Minister Nicole Manison today said cafes that were not licenced to sell alcohol would be exempt from checking vaccines.
She pointed to the consumption of liquor as the reason for the difference in rules.
“I think in any setting when you do add alcoholic do definitely increase the chance of risks,” she said.
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FOLLOWING THE SYSTEM?
The NT Government has stated that the primary obligation will be on the individual to ensure they are being ocmpliant with the new rules.
“(The responsibility) is on the individual not to enter without evidence. Everyone needs to play their role to keep each other safe,” the website reads.
Staff must also ensure they are taking reasonable steps to ensure there is evidence to allow entry.
These steps include placing signage at the entry to inform patrons a pass is required, placing the Terriotry Check In App QR code in a prominent position and having staff view the vaccine pass inside the venue.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T HAVE A VACCINE PASS?
You will be refused entry from the aforementioned venues.
Businesses are told if the situation escalates to call the police to assist.
