TERRITORY have police remembered fallen police officers, including Senior Constable Michael Read, who passed away last year.
His name was added to a memorial wall in Canberra as part of nationwide commemorations for Police Remembrance Day.
Deputy Commissioner Jamie Chalker said Senior Constable Read was a very passionate police officer, loved by many and was sadly missed.
“When you lose someone who has worn the uniform that you wear every day, it hurts. Ready was a big loss for a lot of people. He was well known throughout the organisation,” he said.
Police marched down Smith St to St Mary’s Cathedral in memory of their colleagues.
“It’s an opportunity for us to stop and reflect on those who have served and lost their lives either while serving or since they have retired. It’s an important day for police and family and friends,” Mr Chalker said.
