NT Police are investigating after a child was allegedly sexually assaulted on Saturday in the Territory.

POLICE are investigating after a child was allegedly sexually assaulted in Alice Springs.
NT Police said detectives from the Alice Springs Criminal Investigation Branch received a report of a child under 16-years-old was allegedly sexually assaulted at a residential property.
“Investigations are ongoing, no further information will be provided to protect the identity of the victim,” a statement said.
It’s understood police were called to the residence on Saturday morning and remained on the scene all day.
The latest NT Police crime statistics show sexual assaults in Alice Springs rose 23 per cent in the year to August 31.
Tennant Creek also experienced a 63 per cent increase.
Overall there was a 1 per cent decrease in sexual assaults across the Northern Territory.
Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine and Nhulunbuy all recorded decreases.
Katherine recorded the most significant decrease, by 24 per cent in the year to August 31.
