ANOTHER protester has been arrested as police continue to crack down on attendees of the violent anti-mandate marches in Darwin.
NT Police said investigations were continuing to look into offences committed at last weekend’s protest, in which officers were sprayed with an unknown chemical substance and pelted with rocks.
Detective Superintendent Peter Kennon said protesters had a “responsibility” to act within the law. “Despite police efforts to ensure protesters acted within the bounds of public health directives, a small number of people defied health precautions and caused harm,” Supt Kennon said.
Police have arrested 12 people in connection to Saturday’s March Against The Mandates protest. On Thursday NT Police arrested another person, who faces charges of taking part in a riot, hindering police, and breaching the chief health officer’s directions.
NT Police said a protester, who has already been arrested and charged over alleged involvement in the riot, has had their firearms seized.
An NFPFES spokeswoman said this was the second alleged protester to have their firearms licence suspended.
