PHARMACIES have begun administering the Covid-19 vaccine in the Northern Territory.
Overall, 15 of the Territory’s 41 pharmacies are offering to administer the jab.
At least until supplies of Pfizer improve, chemists will only be administering the AstraZeneca jab.
However Health Minister Natasha Fyles said on Tuesday the Moderna vaccine would also be offered in Territory pharmacies once shipments arrive from overseas.

Moderna and Pfizer are both mRNA vaccines and have been highly sought after globally due to their high effectiveness at preventing severe Covid-19 illness.
The AstraZeneca vaccine, which is a viral vector vaccine, is also considered highly effective at beating the virus, however its use has been limited to those aged 60 and over in Australia.

Four of the 15 pharmacies offering the vaccine have not been yet been listed by the federal government.
