MASS murderer Douglas Crabbe has been refused parole by Western Australia Attorney-General Michael Mischin.

The decision overrides the recommendation of the WA Prisoners’ Review Board and means Crabbe, 69, will remain behind bars until 2019.

Survivors and family of Crabbe’s victims have repeatedly said he should never be released from jail after he killed five people by driving his 25-tonne Mack truck into the Inland Motel near the base of Uluru in 1983.

In a statement, Crabbe’s son Anthony said: “The decision has come as a shock for the family, be we will now focus on the next parole date and continue to support Dad as best we can during this time.”

Anthony Crabbe’s last public statement on the issue was to call survivor Lydia Hannah one a “bitch” when she called for his father to remain in jail.

“Get on with your wife lady we are sick of your sh*t,” he said.

Other Crabbe supporters have made comments that they would run over his critics in their trucks.
