TOP End students are writing messages of admiration to Olympians quarantining in Howard Springs, with their words of love to be delivered to the athletes.
Driver Primary School teacher Natalie Bridson’s Year 2 class has been writing messages for the athletes, with the first lot forming a collage of a swimmer and the second made into the Olympic rings.
“We’ve been doing a lot of learning around the Olympics,” Ms Bridson said.
“They got quite interested and once we said they’re in Howard Springs they wanted to do something.”
Ms Bridson said the messages included words of encouragement, celebrating them for “swimming right to the end of the pool” and describing them as “brave” and “persistent”.
Ms Bridson said the activity was especially close to her heart, having run with an Olympic torch in the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics.
