NT Health Department appoints Dr Frank Daly as new chief executive officer

FRANK Daly has been appointed chief executive for the NT Department of Health.

Dr Daly was appointed following a national recruitment process and will formally start on June 7.

He replaces former chief executive Catherine Stoddard, who resigned in December last year.

Dr Daly has more than 30 years experience in health care working as a clinician, academic and more recently as a health service executive providing advice across Australia and New Zealand on health care system reforms.

During his clinical career, Dr Daly specialised in emergency medicine and medical toxicology.

As Child and Adolescent Health Service chief executive in WA, Dr Daly demonstrated a track record of working closely with stakeholder groups to achieve positive outcomes.

This experience has included providing specialist care for Aboriginal children and families from remote areas of Western Australia.

Dr Daly holds a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery and post graduate qualifications in medicine and business leadership.

“I welcome Dr Daly to the role of Chief Executive Officer for the Department of Health and look forward to working with him to boost health outcomes in the Northern Territory,” said Health Minister Natasha Fyles.

“We’re progressing a significant reform agenda to deliver an even better health system and Dr Daly’s experience will be invaluable in achieving these system wide improvements.

“We recognise the importance of achieving the best health and wellbeing outcomes for all Territorians.

“I thank Acting Chief Executive David Braines-Mead for his contributions over the past 5 months with the Northern Territory’s health reform agenda.”
