A locally owned and operated construction supply firm owned by Territory business

titans, John and Tony Halikos, is making a fresh application to get a commercial

development off the ground in Berrimah featuring retail tenancies, a workshop, office

space, and an al fresco cafe.

Founded in 2001, NT Fasteners currently operates outlets in two locations at 8/2

College Rd, Berrimah, and 4/43 Fairweather Cres, Coolalinga.

The proposal would see the business expand into a new precinct at 20 Berrimah Rd, next to its existing store.

Two previous applications were made in 2015 and 2019, with neither getting off the

ground.

According to the new application currently before the Development Consent Authority, the proposal would see a 2187 sqm commercial building constructed on a vacant block at the intersection of Berrimah and College roads.

The building would feature a 1000 sqm warehouse for NT Fasteners to expand into, and

a 600 sqm showroom and retail space to showcase the local business’ growing capability.

The addition of three ground-level shop tenancies and larger second-level office tenancies would complement the offering provided by the anchor tenant, NT Fasteners, along with a

cafe featuring alfresco dining.

The development would feature 68 car parking spaces and be accessed by both Berrimah and College roads.

A large second-floor office space could be occupied by the Halikos family, who continue to own and operate a consortium of industrial, retail and hospitality businesses as well as a maintaining a large property portfolio footprint across the Northern Territory.

With over 70,000 different product lines including fastening systems, power tools,

cleaning products, storage systems, and building supplies, NT Fasteners supports the needs of the construction and building industries across the Top End while supporting dozens of community groups and sporting organisations, according to material previously published by the business.

The proposal is on public exhibition until June 28.
