THE NT Environment Protection Authority is unclear when a Darwin Harbour oil spill, which occurred last Friday, will disperse.
In a statement, NT EPA chair Bill Freeland said it was “not possible to predict when the sheen might disappear completely”.
“It is anticipated that the rate of dispersal will depend on the weather and levels of boat traffic in the harbour.”
The EPA is still not aware of any oiled seabirds or dugongs, turtles or dolphins found in difficulty, or of any fish kills.
Investigations into the oil’s source are continuing.
