Rugby players and bike riders, men and women, stood and linked arms together in solidarity to say ‘No More’ to domestic violence.
About 70 bike riders rode their bikes from Hidden Valley to Rugby Park to create a circle of unity at halftime with NT Rugby Union semi final teams the Casuarina Cougars and South Darwin Rabbitohs.
NT Women Motorcycle Riders member and event organiser Marguerite Bowen said the afternoon was about spreading awareness and sending the message that domestic violence is “unacceptable”.
It was the fifth year the ride has gone ahead.
The domestic violence prevention initiative NO MORE was founded by Charlie King in 2008.
“We are here because of No More family violence. We want people to participate and get the message across and to link arms with sports people,” Ms Bowen said.
“In previous years we have done this with AFL people but this year we have done it with Rugby to keep spreading the message about No More family violence.”
