NORTHERN Land Council interim acting chief executive Rick Fletcher has called for the

Minister for Indigenous Affairs Senator Nigel Scullion to urgently convene an NLC full council meeting.

Mr Fletcher said he was verbally advised by members of the NCL executive council on Friday that his role as interim acting chief executive would cease today.

Mr Fletcher said he was not advised who the new acting CEO would be.

“I have received no written lawful notice of my termination to date,” he said.

“I have similarly received no written lawful notice of any new appointment.”

On Friday former Labor staffer Jack Ah-Kit said he had offered his services to the land council, “as a person with a bit of history and a bit of experience”.

The NLC’s former top staffer Joe Morrison resigned in November.

The full council meeting will be to seek an independent person as acting chief executive until the current governance issues within the NLC are resolved.

Mr Fletcher said he had provided stable administration to its NCL constituents since his appointment on December 1 2018.

“I have kept members of the NLC full council informed of important developments in relation to the governance of the NLC,” he said.
