As part of a $68m NT government package of works, Territory businesses Murray River North, PTM Group, NT Link and Northern Transportables are building 134 homes to be rolled out to 24 remote communities across the Territory.
Designs include two, three and four-bedroom houses as well as two and three-bedroom duplexes.
Aside from Hermannsburg, homes have already been delivered to Amoonguna, Daguragu, Finke, Jilkminggan, Kaltukatjara, Kintore, Papunya, Pmara Jutunta, Santa Teresa and Wilora.
Remote Housing and Town Camps Minister Chansey Paech, who was in Hermannsburg for the community celebration, said it was heartening to see how happy the new tenants were with their new home.
“The local family of six has been living with other family members so this means there are now two homes in Hermannsburg that will no longer be overcrowded,” he said.
