THE Territory has another Maccas, with the franchise’s Casuarina North restaurant opening Tuesday morning.
The new $10m, 24-hour restaurant is fitted with modern décor and features a McCafé, dual lane drive-through and indoor PlayPlace.
It is the Territory’s 10th McDonald’s restaurant and the seventh owned by local businesswoman Vicki-Leigh Lettice. It is expected to create up to 100 new full-time, part-time and casual jobs across Darwin.
Ms Lettice, whose businesses employ up to 700 staff, said recruits can learn a range of skills.
“The new restaurant will employ people of all ages and experience levels across a variety of crew, barista, management and maintenance roles,” she said.
McDonald’s invests more than $40 million into training and development initiatives each year, offering award-winning certifications in the business, retail, food service and hospitality sectors.
Customer service member David Burton said diners yesterday welcomed the extra space and openness. He said Maccas provided a good working environment.
“I’ve become a better person since working at McDonalds,” he said. “I’ve learnt more about teamwork, communication and I’ve become more disciplined. I’ve built friendships that will last my whole life.”
The existing Casuarina McDonald’s at the Shopping Square will remain open.
