MUSCLES the Mystic Croc has pushed the boundaries of electoral analysis, daring to go where pollsters fear to tread and chowing down without hesitation on who he believes will be the next US president.

It will be Joe Biden, according to Crocodylus Park’s resident 4.5m psychic croc. The 500kg beast selected Mr Biden to unseat incumbent President Donald Trump in an election that is being watched keenly around the world.

Muscles peered into the stars and was confident of his decision, taking a swipe at Mr Biden even before keepers could dangle the presidential candidates above the monster’s pen. When presented with photographs of Mr Trump and Mr Biden, with hunks of presidential pork swinging beneath them, Muscles made the snappy decision to chow down on the Democratic hopeful – an ominous sign for Mr Trump.

While Muscles did not divulge his reasoning, he was spotted gazing at the heavens in the minutes before being presented with the candidates, consulting the stars once last time before locking on.

Muscles’ prediction is shared by renowned American University Professor Allan Lichtman, who has correctly predicted the winner of every US presidential election since 1984. Predictions have swayed both ways, but in the past few days, polls by CNN, YouGov, FiveThirtyEight and more forecast Mr Biden to emerge victorious.

The Economist described Mr Biden’s chances as “very likely”, with a more than 99 per cent chance of winning the most votes.

Burt, the Psychic Croc – the NT News’ regular soothsayer saltie – was otherwise occupied because he chose to suit up and enjoy the free food at a swanky Cup function instead.

Burt was the last Territory croc to dabble in politics, and in August tipped Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro to become the NT’s next chief minister. Burt’s psychic wires were crossed, however, because Chief Minister Michael Gunner retained leadership.
