Education Minister Selena Uibo has praised the Territory’s stellar scores in the NAPLAN preliminary results but said the final scores to be released in December would help shape the future of education.
The NT made strides across all grades tested in NAPLAN this year, particularly in the writing category.
“The Northern Territory is aiming to be the most improved education system in the country and today’s preliminary results of our NAPLAN testing here is showing some very encouraging results,” she said.
“It really is important to make sure that we’re always looking at ways to improve our teaching and learning, ways to improve the support for our individual students so we can get the best outcomes for those individual students.”
The Department of Education began implementing strategies to improve writing in 2017 after the Territory experienced a nosedive in results for the category.
Ms Uibo was eager to see the final NAPLAN results, which breaks down scores school by school and would help determine how the Department of Education continues its strategies.
