Men fined after allegedly breaching Southern Tennant Creek border checkpoint
Police have fined three men for allegedly breaching a Covid-19 border checkpoint.

THREE men have been fined $5056 each after allegedly breaching the Southern Tennant Creek Covid checkpoint.
NT Police said about 6.20am on December 18 the three men, aged 36, 32 and 25, allegedly breached the checkpoint and continued driving to Alice Springs.
The 36 and 32-year-old were found on December 19 and fined. They were directed to isolate until they received a negative Covid test.
The 25-year-old was found by police on Monday. He was also fined and directed to isolate until he returned a negative Covid test.
All three tested negative.
“The CHO directions are in place for the safety of the community and they are more important than ever now that Covid is in the NT,” Incident Controller Commander Lauren Hill said.
“The actions of these three men has put undue pressure on our frontline staff and potentially risked the safety of the Alice Springs community.”
The penalty for failing to abide by the chief health officer directions issued under section 56 of the Public and Environment Health Act 2011 is $5056 for an individual and $25,280 for a business.
