Police appeal for CCTV vision to help find cruel attacker after daylight sexual assault

Police are investigating an alleged sickening crime against a disabled woman in Alice Springs.

Police are appealing for public assistance following the reported sexual assault of a disabled woman in Alice Springs yesterday afternoon.

Police say the woman was attacked between 2pm and 3.30pm near a laneway off Knuckey Ave between Hearne Place and Babbage Street in Braitling.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area at the time of the incident to come forward with details.

They are also seeking closed circuit television footage that may help identify the perpetrator as well as assist with the investigation.

Detectives from the regional crime division are leading the investigation and are following several lines of inquiry. Police are also conducting a forensic examination of the scene and speaking with potential witnesses.

Alice Springs woman wakes with intruder in bed

Two men have been arrested following an alleged unlawful entry where a woman woke to find an intruder in her bed on Friday night.

NT Police said police responded after a woman in Alice Springs woke up to find an unknown male in her bed at 11pm last Friday.

They said the woman screamed, resulting in the men fleeing with alleged stolen property.

Police said two men, aged 28 and 26, were arrested nearby.

They said the 28-year-old was charged with aggravated indecent assault, unlawful entry, stealing, property damage, and possession of a schedule 2 dangerous drug, and was remanded to appear before Alice Springs Local Court on Monday.

The 26-year-old was charged with stealing and unlawful entry and was bailed to appear before Alice Springs Local Court on Tuesday.

In a separate incident, Police arrested multiple youths in Alice Springs over the weekend following two unrelated unlawful entries.

Police said they were alerted at 5.45am on Friday by security officers that a business was being unlawfully entered on Bath St, in Alice Springs CBD.

Police said they arrested two male youths who had caused extensive damage to the building.

They said a 13-year-old was charged with multiple property offences to appear in court at a later date, while a 12-year-old would be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act 2005.

Police said in further separate incident, three boys, aged 11, 13 and 14, were arrested at 8.10pm on Sunday after unlawfully entering a business on Brown Street at Ciccone.

Police said the youths allegedly tried to enter a safe but were unsuccessful.

They said all three youths will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act 2005.
