The community of Nhulunbuy is mourning proud Territorian Matt Hall - a popular friend, neighbour and much-loved dad-to-be who leaves behind his pregnant partner.
Mr Hall died when the buggy he and another man were travelling in rolled on Thursday night, about 100km south of Gove.
His partner Sally Fischer, who is 21 weeks pregnant with their son, said she was thankful to have a close-knit community behind her.
“Thank you to each and every person for the love and support you have shown to me and our families,” she said.
“We are forever grateful.”
Close friend Renee Connolly said Mr Hall “died doing what he loved most” and would be extremely missed.
“Matt was a friend to so many and has left an imprint in many lives, near and far,” she said.
“He was a sweet, caring guy and funny — he was so cheeky.”
“Most of all he was full of fun and adventure.”
Ms Connolly is collecting photos from friends for the memorial service, to be held in Darwin next Wednesday.
She said 99 per cent of the pictures were of Mr Hall hunting or fishing.
“That was just Matt, he lived and breathed hunting and fishing,” she said.
“He’s been framed with the name King of the North because he used to win a lot pig hunting competitions.
“He loved Sal and the baby and he was excited.”
The community got together to farewell the body earlier this week.
Ms Connolly described this as a “touching” display.
“The community spirit has just helped (Sally) get through it,” she said.
“People have dropped food off, people have donated money — someone’s looking after her everywhere.”
A GoFundMe set up for the family just three days ago has already raised more than $45,000.
The funds raised will go towards funeral costs and the ongoing bills associated with the tragic accident.
Tributes have flowed for Mr Hall on social media.
“A Territory legend in the hunting community, with kids and adults alike looking up to him (and maybe even a little bit jealous of his ability to find a stonking good boar),” Zoe Shepherd wrote.
“(Mr Hall) has always been one of the kindest and down to earth person anyone would ever come across,” Katie Harding said.
NT Police said investigations into the incident are continuing with local rangers going into the remote area to retrieve the ATV on Monday.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre received a notification from a personal location device when the vehicle rolled last Thursday and a Careflight rescue helicopter was deployed.
NT Health said a 35-year-old man who was said to have received serious injuries in the same accident did not present to hospital and was not in their care.
Ms Connolly said they knew the man and he walked away from the scene without a scratch.
The crime scene is now closed.
A 47-year-old man was also killed in an ATV rollover in Katherine in July this year.
