Woman, 48, allegedly crashes into police car while drunk
NT Police have charged eight alleged drink-drivers across the Greater Darwin area overnight, including a woman who allegedly crashed into a police car.

A woman has crashed into a police car after she allegedly got behind the wheel while almost three times over the legal alcohol limit.
NT Police Northern Watch Commander Kaye Pemberton said the 48-year-old woman allegedly blew 0.135 when she was tested for alcohol about 11.30pm Friday.
Sergeant Pemberton said no one was injured in the crash in Stuart Park.
She said the woman had been charged in relation to the incident.
Sergeant Pemberton said seven more alleged drink-drivers across Stuart Park, Virginia, Palmerston, and Darwin had also been issued notices to appear in court.
She said the blood alcohol content of each driver ranged from 0.08 to 0.147.
Three kids rack up 26 charges after Top End crime spree
Three children have racked up 26 charges between them after they allegedly stole two cars, fuel, attempted to break into properties, and threatened Top End residents with a knife.
An NT Police spokesman said two 12-year-olds and a 14-year-old allegedly stole a grey Mazda 3 from Mauna St, Darwin about 7am Tuesday.
The spokesman said the car was found abandoned in Karama.
He said the trio was later spotted allegedly stealing fuel from Truck City.
The spokesman said the three children allegedly stole another car – a white Toyota HiLux – and attempted to break into and damage multiple Darwin businesses.
He said the trio allegedly “caused a large disturbance” with residents of a Mahogany Ct home at 11am Wednesday, where one of the kids allegedly brandished a knife and threatened one of the occupants.
The spokesman said Strike Force Trident covertly tracked the stolen HiLux and successfully arrested the trio without incident.
Detective Senior Sergeant Dale Motter-Barnard said police were still investigating the spate of incidents.
“Strike Force Trident is expecting further arrests and further charges to be laid,” he said.
“Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 131 444.

The kids’ charges included damage to property, trespass, attempted burglary, driving a motor vehicle without consent, armed with an offensive weapon, and recklessly endangering serious harm.
All of the children appeared in court on Thursday.
Second-storey home ‘engulfed in flames’
A crime scene has been set up after a suspected arson attack at a Stuart Park unit complex.
Fire investigators will today work to determine the circumstance around a blaze on the second storey of a Helpman St unit shortly before midnight.
NT Police Northern Watch Commander Xavier McMahon said the second storey was “engulfed in flames” when emergency services arrived.
Sergeant McMahon said the homeowners were safely evacuated from the building and were not injured.
“Fireys worked quickly to contain the fire and bring it under control,” he said.
“At around that time, police located a suspect, a 24-year-old female who was subsequently arrested and conveyed to the Palmerston Watch House.”
Sergeant McMahon said the woman was “assisting” with inquiries.
A blackened window was visible from the street with fire damage marks on the outer walls.
A bed frame could be seen through the window.
Police vehicles were outside the property marking the crime scene area that stretched to a neighbouring property.
Neighbour Tony Maher said the street was usually very quiet, and his neighbours were always on their “best behaviour”.
Mr Maher said his own home was not damaged by the flames.
“I thought it was a bush chook at first... but it was bigger than that,” he said.
“It was right outside my bedroom window.”
Man charged with rape in Darwin city
A man has been arrested and charged with raping a woman in the middle of Darwin city during broad daylight.
Police received reports of the alleged sexual assault around Austin Lane about 4pm Tuesday.
A crime scene was established before the man, a 56-year-old, was arrested a short time later.
Detectives from the Sex Crimes Division later charged him with one count of sexual intercourse without consent.
The man remains in custody and is due to face the Darwin Local Court on Thursday.
Youths allegedly smash offices with hammers, assault worker
Northern Territory police have arrested three youths in relation to a string of alleged incidents at a major shopping centre, including an assault of a worker.
Police received reports a group of youths was allegedly causing disturbances at a shopping centre on Trower Rd on Casuarina.
As security went to the incidents, a number of youth allegedly assaulted a worker kicking him and spitting in his face.
Police said those youths then allegedly used hammers to damage the security offices at the centre before fleeing the scene.
Casuarina general duties officers worked alongside CCTV operators to identify and arrest three youths, all aged 15, for the related offending.
All three have been charged with offences including criminal damage, aggravated assault and assault worker.
Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Humphries said the alleged behaviour was “completely unacceptable”.
“This sort of violent behaviour is completely unacceptable and investigations are continuing to identify the remaining offenders involved,” he said.

Man allegedly breaks into stranger’s home, assaults children
A man is in custody after allegedly breaking into a stranger’s home and indecently assaulting two children in a Roper Gulf Region community during the early hours of Sunday morning.
The 31-year-old then fled the property and broke into another nearby home where he indecently assaulted a woman that was known to him, police allege.
Detectives from the Katherine Criminal Investigation Branch arrested the man within the community on Sunday without incident.
He has since been charged with two counts of indecently dealing with a child under 16, two counts of indecent assault, and two counts of aggravated burglary.
He was remanded in custody and scheduled to appear at Katherine Local Court on Monday.
Serious eye injuries after youth allegedly throws stick at passer-by
A 48-year-old has suffered serious injuries after being hit in the eye with a stick allegedly thrown at them by a group of children at a Malak service station on Sunday night.
Police received reports about 7.30pm that up to three youths entered the Caltex on Holzerland St.
One of the group was allegedly armed with a stick, which was thrown at a passer-by outside the service station before the group fled the scene.
The victim was struck in the eye by the stick and was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.
Detectives from the Serious Crime squad are investigating the incident and are urging anyone with information, particularly those with dashcam footage, to make contact on 131 444, quoting reference number 10473140.
Teen in induced coma after being ‘flung’ from ute tray
A teen is in hospital with serious head injuries after he was flung from a ute driving “erratically” on a Top End beach.
Northern Watch Commander Clinton Stewart said the vehicle was driving on Dundee Beach about midday Saturday when the incident occurred.
"A vehicle was driving erratically with several people in the open carry space of the utility,” he said.
“One male was flung from the utility landing on the ground, where he suffered significant head injuries.
“He was CareFlight-ed from the location to Royal Darwin Hospital in an induced coma.”
A CareFlight spokesman said the patient was flown in a serious but stable condition, arriving at the hospital about 3pm.
An NT Health spokeswoman on Sunday confirmed a 16-year-old boy remained in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Mr Stewart could not say how many people were in the vehicle or whether there were any other injuries.
It comes just a day after a horror crash between a 4WD and a truck on the Stuart Highway which killed six people.
On Wednesday a man was also flung off Channel Island bridge after being hit by a vehicle.
