A Katherine resident who applied for a personalised number plate has been knocked back with a rejection letter and had their funds returned.

A KATHERINE resident who applied for a personalised number plate has been knocked back with a rejection letter and had their funds returned.

A letter sent last month by the NT Motor Vehicle Registry stated the number plate was unapproved and had a check for $250 enclosed.

The number plate in question was “FUNTG”.

The Territory, like all states and territories, objects to offensive language and things that are violent or sexually explicit or discriminatory.

The MVR also prohibits “a combination where the number 1 or 0 can be mistaken for the character I or O” as well as letters that represent government departments or authorities.

Other restrictions determined by the MVR may also apply.
