Katherine incident: Alleged DV victim has critical injuries

A Katherine woman who was critically injured in an alleged domestic violence incident will be transferred to the Royal Darwin Hospital today

A Katherine woman who was critically injured in an alleged domestic violence incident

has been transferred to the Royal Darwin Hospital.

Police have arrested a male in relation to the alleged domestic violence incident.

Police said that around 11:55pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that a 29-year-old female had allegedly been assaulted.

It is alleged that the male assaulted the victim to the back of the head before fleeing the scene.

Police and St John Ambulance attended, and the woman was conveyed to Katherine Hospital in a critical condition.

They said she will be transferred to Royal Darwin Hospital for further treatment today.

Police said male has since been arrested and remains in custody with charges expected to follow.
