A PAIR of snakes tied up in a slithery situation has been caught on camera, in a rare sighting of nature at its finest.
Last Tuesday while camping in the Douglas Daly region, the Bury-McCallum family stumbled upon a water python constricting a brown tree snake.
Video shows the water python wrapped in a knot around the brown tree snake, as the prey attempted to escape.
Darren McCallum said his family watched the tussle “unfold from a respectful distance” for about an hour as the water python dragged its prey around, before eventually unravelling itself and ingesting the brown tree snake.
“Because it had stripes on it, you can see how quickly it was eating it,” said Mr McCallum.
“The kids were in awe of what was happening and quite speechless, I’ve never seen something knotted so tightly.”
