Ananias is a proud employee at McDonald’s Alice Springs and celebrated his two-year anniversary at Macca’s last month.
He is one of many living with a disability employed by Macca’s through a disability employment service.
McDonald’s Alice Springs licensee Chloe Peters said since starting his role, Ananias had continued to grow and went above and beyond in his work.
“We created the role specifically for Ananias, his duties are tasks he can confidently carry out with his limited eyesight and are repetitive to help him with his routine and recall,” she said.
“Ananias’ tasks started out with only dining room and across his two years with us has had new tasks, like hotcakes preparation, stocking, drinks and desserts added as he mastered one task,
“Our goal was to have our workforce reflect the community we live and work in. We believe that you can’t be what you can’t see and had a desire to demonstrate a position with McDonald’s is accessible to everyone.”
For Ananias, working at Maccas also gave him a greater sense of independence and community with his team feeling like his extended family.
When not at Maccas, Ananias enjoys volunteering at Bark ‘N’ Bath Doggy Day Care and loves to stay active by parasailing, jet skiing and abseiling.
Maccas has a longstanding commitment to creating opportunities for people with disabilities in their restaurants and representing the diversity of communities.
Earlier this week, they announced a new three-year partnership with Paralympics Australia and the Australian Paralympics team, supporting our elite para-athletes as they prepare for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
