AUSTRALIA’S godfather of modern Italian cuisine, chef Stefano Manfredi, has just spent the week in Darwin and was so impressed we may soon get a chance to enjoy his cooking.

The Italian-born chef, restaurateur, successful cookbook and food writer was making his first visit to Darwin and would not rule out a restaurant being on his menu in the future.
“Darwin is fantastic,” Stefano said. “I came to Australia as a six year-old and my father would travel to Darwin from Albury with Transfield, the company he worked for, so I have good memories of his love of Darwin.
“I love the mix of people, how friendly they are and the food. The outdoor food street culture reminds me of Italy,” he said.

“People love their sunsets and a stroll before their meal.
“Darwin is a city I am looking at. People love Italian food no matter where they are in the world.
“I definitely think there are opportunities here.”
