Hundreds are expected to gather across the Territory on Friday to honour police officers who have died in the line of duty.

The National Police Remembrance Day, held annually on September 29, offers officers, their families, friends and colleagues across the country a moment to pause and reflect on their fallen mates.

Four current and retired officers died by suicide in the months leading up to last year’s memorial, joining another 23 Territory police who had passed away in the force’s history.

Police Commissioner Michael Murphy APM said the memorial would mark “one of the most important” events of the year.
