A Northern Territory born and bred fashion brand has been paraded on a national stage as part of Australian Fashion Week.

House of Darwin walked the runway at the closing show in Sydney for the #WeWearAustralian parade on Friday.

The label was among 80 other high-profile Australian brands walking in the finale of Australia’s largest fashion event.

Founder Shaun Edwards said it was an honour to see his products walk among some other Australian-made labels.

“It was so cool to be in Sydney for the last day of AAFW - it was such a well put together runway show and really did what it set out to do in encapsulating Australian fashion,” he said.

“The #WeWearAustralian campaign was the closing show - it’s a great campaign that champions Australian fashion, and for House of Darwin to be involved in that is pretty surreal.”

He said the feature at the nationally-renowned event meant big things for his brand.

“It was really cool to see our NT products in the same looks as other high profile national brands, It really feels like we’re going national now.

“I can’t wait to take Darwin and the NT on the journey with me and see where it takes us!”

The feature in Fashion Week comes just months after House of Darwin products were launched in 79 Universal Stores across Australia.

Mr Edwards said his ethos was all about promoting the NT, with their description on Instagram calling the brand “a community-minded love letter to the Northern Territory”.

“It’s been such a great opportunity to get our product across the country,” he said.

“It’s really exciting to be able to help tell a positive story outside the Northern Territory.

“Not too many people travel up here so it’s a good little item or portal that people can think of to remind them of home or encourage them to come and visit this beautiful place of ours.”
