THE hot and humid weather is set to continue in the Top End this week.

A weak monsoonal trough is forecast to develop north of Darwin later in the week, but it is expected to remain in the Arafura Sea.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Angeline Prasad said with the monsoonal onset on December 19, another monsoon wasn’t expected in Darwin until late this month.

“The monsoon generally lasts a week or two, and then we get Build-Up weather and then a monsoon,” she said.

She said the region could expect the odd shower and storm late on weekdays.
