MORGAN Rickard will be the Green’s candidate for Chan Ward in the looming Darwin local government elections, the party has revealed.
In a statement on Thursday, the party said Mr Rickard, who lives in Nightcliff, had worked in youth and child services at a number of Darwin council libraries since moving to the Top End in 2013.
Mr Rickard vowed to carry on the legacy of his predecessors Robin Knox and Simon Niblock, which had made Chan the “greenest ward in the Territory”.
“I’m running for Council to deepen its commitment to greening the city and tackling climate change, providing good public services, and partnering with local First Nations people for justice,” Mr Rickard said.
“Our Councillors Robin Knox and Simon Niblock have achieved big wins on climate, greening the city, cleaning up waste and many more issues.”
The Greens said winning candidates would operate as “local independent voices”.
