A KEY document that Territory businesses turn to in their pursuit of a steady pipeline of work has been released by the NT government.

The Civil Works procurement plan that provides industry an outline of the upcoming tenders includes projects that range from the sealing of roads to the upgrade of schools and community infrastructure.

Future projects include:

DESIGN and construct of the Carpentaria Hwy;

NEW trucking bay stops along the Plenty and Buntine highways;

CONSTRUCTION of the West MacDonnell National Park Adventure Cycling Track;

UPGRADES to the Central Arnhem Rd;

SEALING Ryans Bend Road in Katherine;

UPGRADES to the prioritised sections of the Central Arnhem Rd; and

SANDOVER Hwy gravel upgrade packages.

Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics Minister Eva Lawler said the procurement plan was provided to assist local businesses in planning for future works.

“Planning for future works means local businesses can keep a steady workforce, keeping Territorians employed,” Ms Lawler said. “There is close to 80 Tier 3, 4 and 5 civil works projects for tender.

“An investment in strategic infrastructure and a steady pipeline of projects will continue to support the construction and civil industries.”

The release of the Civil Works procurement plan comes hot on the heels of the success of the government’s Room to Breathe program, which has seen a steady pipeline of construction work in remote communities.

The program is now rolling out across the Barkly creating a construction boom with 122 homes to be extended and nearly a hundred new homes built with a further 60 underway. So far extra living spaces have already been added to housing in five Barkly communities including 22 in Ali Curung, 13 in Tara with a further six underway, and 12 in Pmara Jutunta with another nearing completion. More than 130 homes across nine Barkly communities have been renovated.

Remote Housing and Town Camps Minister Chansey Paech said the $85m investment in housing across the Barkly had transformed remote communities

“At Alpurrurulam towards the Queensland border we’re delivering 28 new homes with work on 21 already underway. Forty-five houses in the community have already been upgraded,” he said. “We have also upgraded 29 homes in Borroloola and approved 38 new homes with more than half of those under construction and a dozen completed.”
