A British backpacker’s social media rant after her camp fridge and knickers were stolen from an outer Darwin resort has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times, with the woman telling her followers she “officially hate[s] Darwin”.

A British backpacker’s social media rant after her camp fridge and knickers were stolen from an outer Darwin resort has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times, with the woman telling her followers she “officially hate[s] Darwin”.
Gabrielle Morgan took to video platform TikTok on November 19 to deliver her screed against the Top End after discovering the theft, which she said occurred during her stay at Darwin FreeSpirit Resort at Holtze.
“I’m absolutely fuming this morning,” she told her 32,500 followers.
“This is what it’s like waking up in Darwin.
“We’re staying in a campsite … and you would think your stuff would be safe, right?
“No. We’ve woken up and someone has stolen our whole fridge.
“It had all our food in it, all our alcohol, literally that’s like $400 gone.
“Not only that, you can’t even leave your washing on the line – they stole all my knickers. Just the knickers, nothing else.
“Honestly, it just frustrates me, being a backpacker, we work our arses off to get all these things for our travelling, and then someone just goes ahead and steals all our stuff.
“I officially hate Darwin.”
The video has been viewed more than 375,000 times at the time of writing.
Among the video’s 2250-plus comments were plenty of Australians expressing sympathy and piling on Darwin.
“No Aussie is shocked that happened in Darwin,” said one.
There was also a fierce debate in the comments over whether Ms Morgan contributed to her own misfortune by leaving the camping fridge outside overnight.
Ms Morgan was contacted for comment.
