A SIZEABLE amount of alcohol and cannabis headed for remote communities has been seized by police.
Northern Watch Commander Len Turner said a joint operation from Daly River and Peppimenarti police, searching cars driving to communities, had uncovered the substances.

“They’ve seized about 37 litres of alcohol and cannabis that were destined for remote communities,” he said.
He said it was disappointing to see attempts to smuggle illicit substances into remote communities, and further investigations would be done.

“Further inquiries uncovered that the alcohol was purchased from Darwin so there’ll be some follow up investigations in regards to the nature of the sale,” he said.
