TERRITORIANS looking to explore Kakadu National Park this dry season can start preparing their trips after staff provided a run down of when different park sites are expected to open.
Staff are currently completing crocodile surveys and preparing campsites ahead of what is expected to be a bumper tourism season at Kakadu.
If you can’t wait to hit the road, some sites are already open, including rock art sites Burrungkuy (Nourlangie), Nanguluwurr and lookout Nawurlundja.
However, Kakadu National Park tourism and visitor services manager Anja Toms said there were many key sites that visitors would soon be able to come and enjoy despite seasonal and cultural closures being in place for some areas.

“We are looking forward to opening more sites as water levels recede and it’s safe to do so,” she said.
“One region we can’t wait to get open for visitors this season is Jim Jim, including majestic Jim Jim Falls and the spectacular stone country above Twin Falls.
“Work on the Jim Jim Creek crossing to allow access to these spectacular locations is imminent.
“This will give visitors a chance to explore the Twin Falls escarpment walk for the first time in years.”
