FULL LIST of essential businesses, organisations and workers during Top End lockdown

Top End residents and visitors can only leave their homes for one of five reasons, or if they are essential workers during the Covid-19 lockdown. See the REASONS HERE and the LIST OF ESSENTIAL BUSINESSES, ORGANISATIONS and WORKERS.

NT records no new COVID-19 cases as index case refuses to divulge vaccination status

RESIDENTS in the Top End are currently in lockdown after a Covid-19 case was recorded in the NT.

People are advised they can only leave home for five reasons declared by the Chief Health Officer. These are:

– Medical treatment, including Covid testing or vaccination;

– For essential goods and services, like groceries and medicines;

– For work that is considered essential and can’t be done at home;

– For one hour of exercise a day, with one other person or the people that you live with, and no further than 5km from your home;

– To provide care and support to a family member or person who cannot support themselves. This includes separated families and people who need to leave a location to protect their safety.

Anyone who does leave their home for these reasons must wear a face mask.

The following individuals and organisations are considered essential workers under the Chief Health Officer’s Directions (No. 42) 2021.

ESSENTIAL WORKERS AND ORGANISATIONS

Employees or contractors engaged by any of the following businesses or undertakings is an essential worker.

– A blood bank, including blood collection and delivery;

– Air transport services or an airport;

– The Australian Defence Force, Australian Border Force and Commonwealth law enforcement and intelligence agency services;

– A supermarket, butcher, greengrocer or fishmonger;

– Care services for people with particular needs because of homelessness, age, infirmity, disability, illness or a chronic health condition;

– Child care, early childhood education, primary and secondary schools and tertiary education;

– A distribution centre that handles essential goods.

Production and distribution of:

– Food for sale by supermarkets, butchers, greengrocers, fishmongers, but not including production at an abattoir; or medical and pharmaceutical products;

– Public transport, including taxis, rental scooters other commercial passenger services, as well as transit safety officers and interchange officers;

– The Territory or local government services which are deemed essential by the relevant Agency chief executive or chief executive of a council;

– The administration of justice;

– Truckstops and roadhouses;

– Vehicle repair and mechanical services, including roadside assistance;

– Food outlets with a fixed premises or vehicles providing takeaway food services or food for distribution by food delivery services;

– Cleaning, waste, recycling, pest control and snake removal services;

– Services for a funeral;

– Construction services, only to the extent required in an emergency or to ensure the safety of, or prevent damage to, a structure or site;

– Electrical or plumbing services, only to the extent required in an emergency or to ensure the safety of, or prevent damage to, a structure or site;

– Locksmith services, only to the extent required in an emergency;

– A newsagency;

Authorities investigating COVID-19 case detected in Auckland

– A factory or similar facility but only to the extent required to avoid damage to the plant and equipment;

– A financial institution;

– Freight services for road, rail, sea and air, including postal, courier and removalist services;

– A liquor retailer, but only for the purposes of selling takeaway liquor that is not consumed on the premises;

– A hardware store;

– An accommodation provider;

– Journalism and media services;

– Transport inspection services;

– A business or undertaking that engaged persons to provide support services to the residents of the lockdown area;

– A person who provides for essential, critical or urgent maintenance or repair of power, water, communications or other infrastructure critical to the Territory or to maintain other operations deemed essential, including trade assistants, trade stores and equipment hire;

– A pet store or veterinary clinic;

– A petrol station;

– A pharmacy;

– A post office;

– Primary industries, only to the extent required to ensure adequate supply of food to and care of crops and animals.

Also considered essential workers:

– Any person deemed essential by the chief executive officer of an agency, a government-owned corporation or a local council is an essential worker;

– The Administrator;

– A member of the Legislative Assembly;

– A member of either House of the Commonwealth Parliament;

– A Supreme Court Judge;

– A Local Court Judge.

THE FOLLOWING EMERGENCY AND MEDICAL SERVICES CAN CONTINUE

– Ambulance and paramedical services;

– Firefighting services;

– Medical retrieval services, including Royal Flying Doctor Services;

– Police services;

– Other emergency services.

– Emergency surgery, procedures and medical consulting if failing to provide will lead to loss of life or limb or permanent disability;

– Non-emergency surgery, procedures and medical consulting if failing to provide will lead to loss of life or permanent disability;

– Health services provided in a hospital Emergency Department, by a General Practitioner or at a hospital radiology service.

Medical procedures or services that relate to the following:

– Procedures and surgical treatment by a dentist in an authorised public health care centres in the management of patients with facial swelling due to infection, facial trauma or severe unrelenting pain;

– Procedures to complete a cycle of IVF treatment that was commenced before the implementation of these Directions or any procedure required for the preservation of eggs for future IVF which is required to prevent eggs from becoming non-viable;

– Surgical termination of pregnancy;

– Drug or alcohol services;

– Allied health services provided by allied health professionals when providing critical clinical care;

– Mental health services.
