“Under the agreement, Airnorth will operate three flights per week between Dili and Darwin for the transport of medical supplies, medical emergencies, and the provision of essential goods and services,” a government statement said.
“The services will commence in the coming week, with the date of first flight to be this Friday, 10th of April.”
A spokesman from Airnorth cofirmed the announcement with the NT News.
“The scheduled essential air services will operate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday,” he said.
“The service aims to reconnect Timor-Leste will essential medical supplies, medical patient transport, and the provision of essential goods and services since border closures from March 28.
“We expect our flights will be available for passengers to make bookings shortly.
“Approved exempt passengers may travel on the service as long as they follow the strict quarantine rules upon arrival into Timor-Leste including a 15-day self-isolation period in a specific government approved hotel.
“Inbound passengers travelling from Dili will be met by the Australian Border Force and expected to comply with the NT quarantine rules and regulations.”
